None of us realized at the time but the sale of our home would span 7 months. Due to the discovery of a very complicated title issue (which involved not only a neighbor, but the National Park), we were hit with one hurdle after another. Our attorney said more than once that it was one of the top 5 most difficult sales she had experienced in 30 years of practice. I can not begin to tell you the hours upon hours of work that this man put into the sale of this house. Numerous weekends and holidays were involved. To this day we are still discovering things he did for us. His patience and level-headedness is what kept us sane throughout (most) of the process. I could go on forever it seems but I won't. I will say that he is the most dedicated and professional man I think I have ever met. He has a deep knowledge of the industry and a very long arm. To cut this long narrative short, anyone looking to buy or sell a property in the Mount Desert Island area and beyond, would be a fool to think twice about not utilizing him. We have been visiting Bar Harbor, ME for the last 15 years and had started seriously discussing the possibility of purchasing a second home in the area during the fall of 2016. After finding Steve's name in an Acadia Realty book from the prior year's visit, we decided to contact him about how best to approach our goal. He listened to what we thought was looking for and was very helpful in not pressuring us into speeding the process along - even explaining he had clients in the past who had carried their search through a couple of summer seasons until they found a property that fitted their wishlist and budget. Before our annual visit in October, we exchanged emails and phone calls discussing different properties we had each found through Zillow and other MLS outlets which helped bring into focus both what we did and did not want/need. During our visit to Bar Harbor, we met with Steve in person and he took an entire Tuesday driving us through what amounted to around 500 square miles of Mid-Coast and Down East Maine. He is a lifelong resident of this area and had great insight into the towns we visited and provided a local's perspective on, well everything. We were incredibly fortunate to find a property on our initial visit that we felt was "the one" so Steve carved out time again that week on Thursday to meet us there a second time so our family, who were also visiting, could view the cottage. After traveling home and thinking things over, we decided to place an offer. Steve facilitated the offer and contingencies we decided on and moved the process along very smoothly. He remained in contact with us during every phase of the process and even facilitated things he didn't have to; insurance contacts, power company and propane customer transfers, etc. The entire process with Steve's assistance was incredibly pleasant and efficient and we would have absolutely no reservations about recommending him to anyone or using his services again. He is professional, polite, and an absolute pleasure to work with.
